Well I've started work on gnome 3.8 and got most of the work out of the way, and  a usable gnome enviroment.

You have the same specs as me (Athlon BE2350, nVidia GT 520 - just a very little difference from yours). How well does that Gnome 3 desktop run? Last time I was using it on Linux it was a pain and sometimes it was getting completely frozen.

Gnome is in a buggy / broken state. It worked fine when I tested, but only tested basic functionality. A lot of patching is still needed.
