Re: List of Current TODO:

OpenRC TODO - init.d/conf.d files for whatever is shipped in freebsd-world:
[DONE] Add init.d/sshd
[DONE] Add init.d/cron (or crond?)
[DONE] Add init.d/modules (it's not installed since openRC ships a linux-specific one, ie: modprobe with parameters)
[DONE] Add init.d/ntp-client
[X] Add the rest - the ones listed above are probably the most important ones

Package TODO to provide a basic but working desktop experience:
- Desktop:
[DONE] LXDE related packages (PKGBUILD conversion)
[DONE] slim (PKGBUILD conversion)
[DONE] i3-wm + i3status + dmenu + urxvt
[DONE] openbox
[DONE] xfce4 base
[X] rest of xfce
[X] gnome
[X] kde
- IME (Input Methods):
[DONE] fcitx base
[DONE] fcitx-mozc
[X] ibus, anthy, uim, ...

- Web:
[DONE] Chromium (tested including WebGL)
[DONE] Firefox

- Multimedia:
[DONE] mplayer2, ffmpeg
[X] Some GUI player

- Stuff:
[X] IMs (eg. pidgin)
[DONE] cups for printing [1]
[DONE] Gimp
[DONE] ImageMagick
[DONE] a document viewer (evince is available)
[DONE] a bunch of texlive packages are available now

- Idiocy:
[DONE] openjdk7 (split the same way as on ArchLinux) - done, requires some testing

- Gaming & Stuff:
[DONE] wine, see this post.

[1] I have tested on an Epson Stylus Photo PX830FWD; The gutenprint drivers for the closest model worked fine, the one from the epson-inkjet-printer-201112w (Linux-AUR link) seems to fail in some filter. Since I never tried it on any other system (FreeBSD etc) I don't know if it's actually supposed to work on BSD, but the gutenprint one works fine anyway.

Re: List of Current TODO:

I'll generate a new ISO first, and fix openrc + memory file systems, then I'll pass it over for you to fix the rest. Going to use newer packages + different compiler instead of gcc 4.2

Re: List of Current TODO:

I would help you repackaging core packages, but i can't install ArchBSD because when i do a pacstrap, it says: Operation too slow.

I used the ArchBSD Beta ISO, fetched from ftp.archbsd.net.

I'll retry later, when the new ISO will be available.

That's just the server it's on at the minute, been getting a lot of traffic, and I haven't moved it to the new server yet.

Re: List of Current TODO:

Hi,

I'm glad I heard about this project! I think it is very promising.
Therefore, I'll be glad to help even though I will only have a very little amount of time to dedicate for this task.
As soon as I am done with my exams session, I will install it on what used to be my FreeBSD laptop and help squashing bugs.

Send me a message if you still wish to help. I've finished the ftp server, just website needs links fixing / general clean up, but I put it down as not important at the minute as working on other things.

Re: List of Current TODO:

Hi guys,

i noticed that beadm has xproto as its dependency. Why?
FreeBSD's beadm is just a script shell. Why it depends on X.org headers?

When i install it with ports under FreeBSD, it doesn't require xproto.

Thanks so much man.

When the new package will be uploaded to the repository, i'll add beadm into the USB live image.

BTW, the USB live image is half way done.
The root FS will be mounted directly in rw-mode. So, all the issues, related to the writability of the /mnt and / directories, will be automatically fixed.

Best regards,
dvorak

Re: List of Current TODO:

The USB live image is ready for testers.
If you want to test it, it can be downloaded from my dropbox.
Since the new ISO was released, the USB live image was rebuilded and it was based on it.
The image is compressed with xz.

I cloned it on my USB stick under Linux with:

# dd if=/path/of/image of=/dev/sdc bs=1024k conv=sync

and i tested it on VirtualBox.

Best regards,
dvorak

Re: List of Current TODO:

Updated the TODO list for people to view. May just make a dedicated wiki page instead for a list of the current  TODO being worked on.
