Status of the project
Hello everyone!
First of all hopefully this is the correct place for this post. I'm really excited to see that archBSD exists, as a fan of both ArchLinux and FreeBSD, I figured I would try this out. Clicking through the site there are a couple of things that I noticed. There seem to be a couple of dead/bad links on the site.

Those plus the fact there wasn't an announcement hasn't been posted to the front page since September makes me wonder how active this project is. Going through the packages list I saw that one of the packages that I would be using on the system is out of date and currently orphaned, and I wouldn't mind taking a stab at trying to update it but a bit concerned by my inability to access either the mailing list or the IRC channel page on the wiki to see how I should go about doing that. I managed to stumble upon the ArchBSD GitHub Org via a Google search, so should fork the ABS repo update the PKGBUILD file and submit a pull request is that the best way to update packages that are in the repo?

I considered uploading an updated ISO, but only about 90mb in packages have changed since then, so it's not worth the effort at this point.
Seeing as how small the ISOs are, and considering installing archBSD works like installing Archlinux I don't think updating the ISO for that would be worth the effort. When doing an install the packages gets pulled from a mirror anyways so the installed system will have the latest packages regardless of how old the installer is.

The website never really got fixed or updated as we spent time creating the packages for a usable system and figured this was more important than working on a website, and having the project in an unusable state.
Now that the packages are ready. We're going to focus on fixing the website and our infrastructure. but this means packages versions lag behind considering it's only a few people who packages.
Then we have documentation to complete as well as bringing the packages up to date and keeping them up to date. So there are a lot of issues still, it's just getting time to getting them resolved.
There will be a new iso soon which uses openrc instead of the freebsd-init. The new iso is mostly due to the pacman update causing incorrect database versions when doing a clean install. It's only a mild inconvenience having to run pacman-db-update after a new install though. And core was update a month or so ago to freebsd 10.1 as well as new core packages.
Most information is posted directly to irc such as when a new package is uploaded. The status of the repository and any new git commits.

I've been updating the iso creation tool and it's ready to push out a new iso with openrc. Though, while we're changing names. I decided to wait so I can correct the name on the ISO. There are still some minor issues with openrc that need worked out. Networking works, and most packages have services files. There are still problems with ZFS not umounting correctly during shutdown. Or PID files being left that aren't cleared. Also it doesn't seem to load the correct mouse drivers during boot and needs to be loaded in /etc/conf.d/modules. UMS should be handled by devd and loaded. I haven't found out exactly what's going on here. Though, even with minor issues, it's in an overall working state better than what it previously was.
