Switch to ArchBSD from clean FreeBSD installation

Hello,

First of all I want to thank you for this interesting project.

Search the forums led me to your scripts to build ISO: https://github.com/Amzo/ArchBSD-Old

But I'm looking for a way to switch to a standard FreeBSD installation to ArchBSD version. Is it possible?

Re: Switch to ArchBSD from clean FreeBSD installation

It was possible, with our old prefix, however, you'd need to compile a newer version of pacman and force an installation.

e.g

pacman -Sy base --force

To overwrite the FreeBSD world files.

But this will overwrite files such as passwd, groups, loader, rc.conf etc.

So users will need to be readded, root password changed, and configs set backup.

You'd end up with some untracked files too though, so I don't recommend such a migration.
